An attractive 30% cash rebate is offered by the Film In Malaysia Incentive (FIMI) for qualifying Film and TV spend by international productions, and co-productions with Malaysians.

Minimum spend in Malaysia for international productions:

  • MYR 5m (USD 1.5m) for Film, inclusive of audio-visual post/VFX/final output.
  • MYR 1.5m (USD 500k) for Film/TV for standalone audio-visual post/VFX/final output.
  • MYR 385k (USD 120k) for TV series per broadcast hour, inclusive of post/VFX/final output.
Minimum spend in Malaysia for international-Malaysian co-productions:

  • MYR 2.5m (USD 750k) for Film, inclusive of audio-visual post/VFX/final output.
  • MYR 500k (USD 167k) for Film/TV standalone audio-visual post/VFX/final output.
  • MYR 193k (USD 60k) for TV series per broadcast hour,  inclusive of post/VFX/final output.
